Hotel Intern

Starting August 21st 2024

  • Hello world!

My first work experience was a work-study I did my senior year of high school. I cleaned and restocked areas of the cafeteria as requested as I learned basic working skills like how to clock in and out, how to cash a pay check, and how to serve guests.

After high school I got my first full-time job at Giant Eagle in the prepared hot foods department. I was also cross-trained in the deli. I worked diligently on keeping my area stocked, clean, guests happy, and maintaining food safety standards for four years. I left because I would be returning to college the autumn semester of 2020.

I found my next position as the part-time assistant cook for the city of Hilliard’s Recreational Senior Center. This would be my primary college job where I would plan menus, cook, clean, and handle ordering for around 100+ local seniors every week. Eventually I would have to leave this position due to internship requirements from my university.

I am currently serving as an intern in the Food and Beverage Department at HersheyPark. As a Level 1 Leadership Intern, I am focused on enhancing my leadership skills through practical experience. This 12-week program culminates in a Certificate of Completion, which I will receive upon successful completion.

Upon my return to Ohio from Hershey, I secured another internship. Beginning on August 21, 2024, I will be a hotel intern at the Renaissance in Westerville, Ohio

    Volunteer work

I volunteered to bake deserts for the 4th of July parade my first two years with the senior center. These desserts would be served to the people who marched in the Hilliard’s parade. Every cookie and brownie I made was planned between myself and the head of the community center, and everything was made from scratch.

I worked in Hospitality Listens 2022 as a face painter. This work was important to me as someone on the autism spectrum as it allowed OSU students to create a safe space away from home for children on the spectrum to enjoy themselves with their families.

I worked The Big Dish 2023 and 2024. In 2023 I was at the coat check and in 2024 I handled busing tables. This work helped me gain a better understanding of special events while also being able to practice my networking skills. It was through this event that I was able to connect with the Renaissance Hotel brand and get my internship this autumn.
